Set Yourself Up for Financial Prosperity
Solomon wrote, Seek after wisdom, even if it costs you all that you have. It may seem paradoxical to start your setup by spending all you have, so to speak. But the focus is not spending, but gaining. Gaining wisdom.
Wisdom is the principal thing. After all, the one who wrote the proverb was the most financially prosperous man who ever lived. Solomon valued wisdom above any other treasure, because wisdom is the key that unlocks all those treasures.
Investing on a Mentor
When I started learning internet marketing, I found a mentor among the speakers at the very first conference that I visited. It was the best choice I made that weekend. The other choice cost me about $1,000 for a cd and an eBook. I didnt even know I could return it, but it was a good lesson and one that has probably saved me thousands of dollars throughout the years.
Get a mentor with whom you can have a personal relationship, not one that you talk to on a conference call every once in a while, and not one with a webinar you watch along with other 20 students. Those may be valid learning tools, but that is not the type of mentor you need.
I know people that have spent $10,000 on a mentor that hardly ever gave them the time of day. Be careful. Dont choose base on fame, but based on the relationship that you can have with the mentor.
Join a Mastermind Group
Your mentor may offer a mastermind group and that would be great, but if not, you should look for a group of people that share your marketing interest and that meet regularly.
You can go to Meetup.com and find marketing groups in your area, or any other type of group you may want to join, from photographers to salsa dancers.
Having a group of piers is as important as having a mentor. Solomon also said, Wisdom is found among friends in council.
Schedule Your Time
Internet marketing can be a consuming business. There is so much to learn and there are about as many ways to make money online as there are offline. If you are not careful, you will be a perpetual student and never take action.
Balance your time by setting limits to your various online activities. Wisdom is first, and you should learn, but not at the expense of taking action. Determine the time you need for each activity as you progress in your knowledge. It may be that you dedicate Saturdays to study and other days to working on your business.
Learn to limit all your activities, like the time you spend on social networks, the time you spend on YouTube, the time you spend at the Warrior Forum, etc. I was recently on a trip and didnt have very good internet connection. I decided to forgo the internet altogether and concentrate on writing. I now realize I would have gotten very little done if I had not made that decision.
Dont Follow After Many Things
Dont try to be a Renaissance person if you truly want to set yourself up for financial prosperity. Chose an area that catches your interest and develop it until you learn all you can from it. Perhaps you realize later that you should have chosen something else. Fine. You now have one complete website and can begin to look into other areas.
Leonardo and Michelangelo managed to create great masterpieces, but never truly set themselves up for financial prosperity.
If you follow too many things, you may not succeed at any of them and you may even end up writing backwards.
