Creating Squeeze Pages

Creating Squeeze Pages

I enjoy collecting squeeze page designs. I have bought a lot of templates and done screen captures of a lot of what major internet marketers are using.

Young marketers are very creative, but there is nothing like success. A marketer that has a huge list may be the one whose footsteps you should follow, but there is always something to be learned even from the mistakes some marketers are making.

Squeeze Page Templates and Samples

Go into your hard drive right now and create a folder and name it something like “Squeeze-Tight” or something that will catch your attention later. Then, do a search for free squeeze page templates and start your collection.

Start thinking of all of your favorite marketers and visit their sites. I guarantee that you will find a squeeze page on each site. Screen capture their designs by using software like Snag-It or press the “PrtScrn” button on your computer and then paste the content of your clipboard on a blank document (a Word document would work). You may not know this, but you can also save the webpage to your hard drive.

Be careful not to use designs that are not yours. Use your swipe file as a point of departure. The design of squeeze pages may be copyrighted. However, you can freely use templates that you buy or download for free.

Use What is Right, Look for What is Wrong

I’m sure you are already getting a lot of marketing emails, which means that you opted in to get a free gift at a squeeze page that caught your attention. Notice what marketers are already emailing you and try to decide what they did right to catch your attention and make you opt in.
Notice also the mistakes. Or at least notice what you think are mistakes. I once thought that the plainest of a squeeze page format that a new marketer was using was absurd, until I saw that he had gotten 15,000 opt-ins in one year and learned that he had tested the squeeze page and was using the most successful design.

Some mistakes are obvious. Some of us old timers would also like to learn what young whippersnappers are doing online to be successful, but I refuse to opt in when they start using profanity so freely in their videos. I know they talk that way among their friends.

One of my early mentors had an occasional small problem with his mouth, but nothing really offensive. One summer, my wife and I were going to Europe on a second honeymoon. When I told my mentor that I would be out for a couple of weeks because of my trip, he made a completely inappropriate comment that prompted me to quietly opt out of his services upon my return.

Business is not the place for improprieties. You will lose customers more easily than you think just by using a word that you may use every day with your friends. I’m not talking about being prudish, but about being respectful.

Editing Your Squeeze Pages

Use your templates and swipe file as a point of departure. Editing is not so hard. If you run into problems, check out the tutorials available on YouTube.

There are only three basic steps to editing:

  1. Change the image: If you are using an image of the freebie, then change it to match your freebie.
  2. Change the text: Often all you have to do is change the name of the freebie, but you may also want to confirm the copyrighting.
  3. Change the code: Make sure you are using the right autoresponder code and that your autoresponder is already programmed to download the right freebie.

Once you have completed your first squeeze page, load up for the next one and repeat the process.
